Chicago, Illinois (a.k.a.: Second City, The Windy City, The City of Big Shoulders, and Chi-town) is a city in the Midwestern state of Illinois, in the United States of America. It is currently the third largest city by population in the country following New York City and Los Angeles. When combining the surrounding suburbs and the nine counties within Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana, the greater metropolitan area known as Chicagoland encompasses a population close to around 10 million people.
Chicago is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan, one of the great lakes. This major physical feature allows Chicago to have many great beaches and lake shore parks, as well as beautiful views.
